Postpartum Doula, Lactation Support, Group Support & Textile Design

Proudly Based in Brooklyn, New York City

Welcome to Demi Lune Prints, where I’m honored to support growing families in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan as they navigate the beautiful yet challenging journey into parenthood. My passion for this field was ignited by the holistic, nurturing care I received from my own doulas and midwives during the birth of my first child, an experience that shaped my approach to caregiving. The postpartum transition is a brief and intense period of time, and I am someone who gets it, honors it, and aims to amplify ease and joy in the experience.

We don’t know what we don’t know and families gain peace of mind when hiring me, knowing they’ll have a source of information, guidance and advocacy for whatever comes their way when they welcome their new baby. As a postpartum doula, I provide comprehensive support during the crucial early weeks of your baby’s life. My goal is to create a safe, nurturing space where you can bond with your newborn, recover physically and emotionally, and find your footing in your new family dynamic. I offer hands-on assistance with infant feeding, newborn care, and household tasks, while also being a compassionate listener and advocate for your well-being. I believe in being non-judgmental, inclusive, and respectful of your personal choices as I accompany you on your unique journey.

Birth and the postpartum period bring about the most profound shifts a person can experience, both hormonally and emotionally. I’m here to guide you through this transition, offering gentle, intuitive support that allows you to focus on what truly matters—your family and the new life you’ve brought into the world. We’ll create an environment of peace, understanding, and wonder as you embrace the joys and challenges of parenthood.

“This is a very dramatic, vulnerable time in your life, unique in its presentation in that there are only so many times in your life that you will have the experience of welcoming a new being into your family.
Embrace it. Savor it.
Allow yourself to be supported by your family, friends, and community.”

-Seven Sisters for Seven Days

With a rich background as an artist and textile designer, my journey into doula work was deeply influenced by the holistic and compassionate care I received from my own doulas and midwives during the birth of my first child. Their gentle, all-encompassing support inspired me to bring my own mindfulness, sensitivity, and creativity into this meaningful work.

Growing up in an Iranian-American family, studying abroad in Argentina, living as an au pair in France, and eventually settling in New York City with my French spouse, I have thrived in multi-cultural environments. This lived experience allows me to offer particular support to families navigating cultural differences and raising multilingual children.

As a warm and compassionate caregiver, I am dedicated to creating a peaceful space where you can bond with your baby, restore your body, and embrace your new role as parents with confidence. I approach every family with an inclusive and empathetic mindset, tuning into your unique needs and desires.

Giving birth is a transformative experience, both physically and emotionally. The hormonal shifts are immense, and while your baby is now on the outside, they remain as dependent on you as they were within. My goal is to ease this transition, offering you the support you need to find joy in the journey ahead.

Testimonials

  • "Sheyda’s support for our family in the postpartum period was extremely valuable. We felt taken care of both physically and emotionally -- she took care of so much from cooking, organizing and baby wearing to feeding and planning ahead. My son loved her, she helped him sleep well and she contributed immensely to our preparation for the next phase of parenthood. We feel so grateful to have met and connected with Sheyda. Any family would be lucky to have her support and guidance.”

    -Lou, Williamsburg

  • “Sheyda provided great insight, love, and support for our family as we welcomed our daughter into the world. I would hire her in a heartbeat again.”

    -Emma, Brooklyn Heights

  • “As a first time Mom, I was very anxious about what the recovery period would look like post birth. With Sheyda’s support, the weeks following were made easier in so many ways. She offered key tips and hands on help troubleshooting breastfeeding (which was so hard for me!). Without her imperative advice I’m not sure I would’ve stuck with it and I’m so glad I had her there to help! Sheyda visited me in the hospital when I had to return due to blood pressure issues, she put me at ease with her calming presence, homemade treats, and sleepy time tea. She helped my husband and I with grocery shopping and prep for a delicious stew. We are so grateful for her support!!”

    - Jillian, Carroll Gardens

  • "Sheyda was a lovely caring presence for the first weeks I was home postpartum. She arrived with homemade snacks and had suggestions for my care. She cooked and cleaned for us - she did everything we asked and pitched in wherever she saw a need. She was wonderful to talk to and I trusted her completely with my infant. She even helped out with my toddler. I’d highly recommend her.”

    -Kristie, Long Island City

  • " Sheyda was sweet and attentive when looking after our newborn. She has a very calming presence and helped provide support when we needed it most the first few weeks post delivery. I have full confidence in Sheyda and would be happy to recommend her to any family."

As your postpartum doula, I recognize the immense physical and emotional demands of this time, and I’m here to ensure that your needs don’t fall through the cracks. Whether I’m preparing nutrient-dense meals, healing teas and soothing baths, or simply creating space for you to rest, my focus is on helping you replenish your energy. These early days are crucial for healing, emotional stability, and bonding with your baby. I’ll encourage you to slow down and care for yourself, which can be a new skill for some of us, so you can nurture your new family with confidence and vitality.

The changes that come with birth can be overwhelming, and I’m here to help you navigate them with calm and reassurance. My role is to offer practical support, listen without judgment, and create a peaceful environment where you can find your footing. Sometimes, all you need is a reminder that “this is normal” or someone who gets it and can say, “Yeah, I know how tough this is.” This presence allows you to let go of some of the stress and embrace both the challenges and joys of new parenthood with greater ease.

Confidence in your parenting begins with having the right support and information. I provide evidence-based guidance on newborn care, feeding, and self-care, helping you make decisions that are best for your family. With so much conflicting advice online, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and doubt your instincts. I’ll help you sift through the noise as you learn to trust yourself, so  that you can move forward with clarity, confidence, and a sense of ownership in your parenting journey.
